We are pleased to open the 2027 application cycle for our Veterinary Training Programme (VTP) based at the Sea Turtle Health Institute (STHI), Maldives.This unique and innovative programme provides 3 weeks of intensive, hands-on clinical training by specialist sea turtle veterinarians at the largest and most advanced sea turtle hospital in the Indian Ocean region. Located on the beautiful island of Jawakara, the STHI functions as a very busy teaching hospital, in a ‘sea turtle university’ setting purpose built for training, advanced care and health research and supported by a combined 6 sea turtle veterinary specialists

We accept 12 clinicians every year (one per month), and 6 placements are FULLY FUNDED by the Olive Ridley Project for veterinarians from the Global South, including all room and board, international flights and local seaplane transfers.
